The Demonisation of the Goddess

The Demonisation of the Goddess: And her refusal to be subjugated

Wyn Abbot’s 'The Demonisation of the Goddess And her refusal to be Subjugated' is not just a book but a divine reclamation. With absolute clarity and heartfelt conviction, Abbot dives deep into the ancient myths and cultural frameworks that have long conspired to silence the voice of the Divine Feminine. Her writing peels back layers of distortion to reveal a truth that has been buried but never broken.

This is a work for all soul-searchers, truth-tellers, and those who feel the ache of something sacred lost to time. Abbot doesn’t merely inform, she illuminates and awakens. Her insights are both scholarly and soulful, inviting readers to confront uncomfortable histories while embracing the radiant power of feminine divinity.

In a world still wrestling with imbalance, 'The Demonisation of the Goddess And her refusal to be Subjugated' is a call to remembrance, a guide toward healing, and a celebration of the divine Goddess in each of us rising once more.

The book’s themes and descriptions offer a glimpse into its powerful impact. A few quotes and notations below:

• “So many wars have been waged over religion, boundaries, land ownership, victors imposing their rules, their beliefs, and their religions. In the process we see the Gods and Goddesses of ancient lands being worshipped, vilified, deposed, and destroyed. As civilizations merged and morphed, we see those deities assuming new identities and new creation stories.”

This quote captures the book’s central thesis: that the Divine Feminine has been systematically vilified across time and geography by the patriarchy.

• “Inanna is the most well-known Goddess in Sumerian mythology, she was the Goddess of Love (later being known as the Goddess of Love and War), and the Queen of Heaven, being the morning and evening star, Venus. She was an anthropomorphic being, meaning she had no human form, and she became Ishtar, Astarte, Aphrodite, and Venus.”

This quote is a poignant reflection on how ancient myths and rites of the Goddess were once honored and integrated into each narrative of new societies, only to be erased from dominant chronicles and replaced by masculinity in Judaic, Christian, and Islamic texts.

Abbot references a revision of Genesis 1:27, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" . . . So God (Elohim) created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them," and goes on to explain that "At this point in time God was considered both male and female, making Lilith and Adam in that same meaning. Whilst history and religion have referred to God as a 'he', he is quoted in Genesis [1:26 KJV] as saying 'our image' not 'my image'. It should also be noted that his name is Elohim / El, El being the consort of Ashera."

"26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:"

Abbot connects inaccuracy to real-world consequences, making the book both historical and applicably political.

The revision from the equality of male / female to a dominant masculine led to an imbalance, which in turn created the subjugation of women, destruction of our equality and human rights in the forms of witch trials (Christianity), face / body covering, discipline, etc. (Islamic), hair covering & modest dress (Judaism), and global, domestic violence veiled as disobedience from deep insecurity and a desire for control by the male counterpart.

• "Never did the Goddess under any guise demand total and unilateral devotion, never did she demand complete power and ownership, and never did she attempt to subjugate her consort the God. The suppression of one half of the whole is on par with trying to stop the Sun from rising and living in eternal night. Or stopping the rain from falling and living in eternal drought. All elements are crucial for the completion and wellbeing of the whole," explains Abbot.

Remembering her truth is a recurring call throughout the book, urging readers to reclaim the sacred feminine and help restore balance that is lacking in today's world. More and more, particularly in modern American politics, the rights of women are being stripped away, even at the expense of their lives.

How many women and girls have died from lack of medical care from a complicated pregnancy because they don't receive the care they need due to restrictive laws? How many "Christian" white supremist nationalists are calling for the repeal of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote?

The list and intentions are endless, growing from the chasm of the current imbalance between the masculine and feminine energies. If you truly want to help restore the true equilibrium, start with this book.

Then continue to educate yourself and make your stand based on truth. Hitler didn't win—and neither will this administration.
