This moon also marks the approaching of the Dog Days of Summer, 40 days beginning July 3 thru August 11 traditionally. This is when water can become scarce, and death of plants and grass becomes commonplace. This time is associated with the rising of the Dog Star, Sirius.

MERCURY STATIONS RETROGRADE IN CANCER

Mercury stations retrograde in Cardinal Cancer this afternoon @ 1:36 PM. This is the second retrograde station in a Water sign for Mercury this year. The first was February, in the Mutable sign of Pisces, and the final will be October, in the Fixed sign of Scorpio. 

Mercury is the fastest planet in our solar system (the Moon is a luminary). Its orbit is ecliptic; therefore, it's speed around the Sun isn't constant. When it begins to slow down to less than 40 minutes of arc per day, it's entering a "storm" in preparation of its upcoming retrograde.

JUPITER

In ancient astrology, Jupiter was referred to as the "Greater Benefic believed to bestow only blessings. It is also known as the "Cosmic Protector" due to its size and ability to block galactic objects that might otherwise cause significant damage to Earth. 

Jupiter is a planet of expansion (also due to its size) so its effects can be positive or negative. For example, growth in areas of knowledge or charity would be a positive aspect of this giant; however, becoming greedy or egotistical wouldn't reflect well on us or our business.

Tonight Mars sextile Neptune in Aries. Romance and idealism permeate; however, our energy may feel somewhat drained from the day/evening activities.  Social interaction proves beneficial because Mars' sensitive side shines under this aspect rather than its ego. 

Kicking our feet up at home after celebrations (here in the U.S.) can prove the most beneficial and even life-altering by turning our focus inward toward a subject we'd like to study more.
