Although the Summer Solstice occurs on varying dates each year, usually between the 20 and 22 June, the official date of Midsummer is designated as 23 June in the United Kingdom. I choose to honor it the night before the Summer Solstice. 

According to Seb Reily, as with many days of cultural significance such as Christmas, tradition held that celebrations began at sunset of the night before, making Midsummer Eve the beginning of the Midsummer festivities in ancient and medieval Britain.

SOLSTICE ASPECT

Just after the Sun's ingress into Cancer, it enters a sextile with Chiron in Taurus in the first and eleventh houses (Placidus) concurrently, illuminating the shadow of wounds. This is a new beginning highlighting sudden awareness of patterns or trigger sources keeping us in a loop. This energy requires us to act in order to get closer to our hopes and wishes, accept what is beyond our control, and open to receive love.

If you've been struggling with low self-worth or deep melancholy to the point of suffering, the Sun's light, associated with Christ consciousness, is going to illuminate a path of release. You have to face and accept what the light reveals in order to heal, regardless of how much it hurts, echoing the message of Chiron in Taurus. 

Only in acceptance lieth peace—resistance produces suffering.

"Crabs in a bucket" metaphor or crab mentality both refer to a situation where people (just like crabs, in this case) try to pull each other down when one of them attempts to evolve. 

It's not always malicious but what they know, their own insecurities & fears projected. Outside their environment isn't worth exploring because the bucket of familiarity is comfortable and safe; indications of the South Node. 

Sometimes it's not only others who attempt to hold us back, but our own subconscious, self-sabotaging our desires. The 'Imposter Syndrome' is also a form of crab mentality that convinces us we're not good enough. 

Crab mentality very often includes ourselves.
